Steam
Authentication
Singular’s Steam source connector authenticates using your Steamworks Partner account credentials and completes Steam’s email-based 2FA during login.
Provide the following in the connector configuration:
- Account name: Your Steam/Steamworks account name.
- Password: The password for that account.
Steam sends a one-time login code via email during authentication. To allow the connector to complete this step automatically, ensure that Steam’s login-code emails can be received by Singular.
- Add/allowlist the inbox:
steam@dp.singular.net - Make sure your Steam account’s Steam Guard / email verification messages are delivered (not blocked by filters or security rules).
If the connector cannot retrieve a valid 2FA code, authentication will fail and the sync will not start.

Connection Setup Guide
Once you connect Steam to a destination, you will also need to configure:
- Connection Pull Schedule: Determines how frequently data is extracted from the source.
- Backfill (Days): Specifies the duration for which historical data will be retrieved during each connection run.
- Destination-specific settings: Settings such as Dataset Name or Target Schema (depending on your destination).
- Schema Migration Policy: Controls how Singular will handle schema changes from the source.
Steam authentication may require a 2FA code delivered by email. To allow Singular to complete the login flow, ensure your Steam account’s Steam Guard emails can be received by Singular:
- Add
steam@dp.singular.netas an allowed/approved recipient for Steam Guard codes (and ensure your email/security rules do not block or filter these messages). - If your organization uses allowlists, spam filters, or mail routing rules, update them so Steam Guard emails can be delivered successfully during connection runs.

Troubleshooting
If your Steam sync fails during authentication, it’s usually related to Steam’s email-based 2FA flow.
During login, the connector waits for Steam to send a one-time “Login Code” email and then attempts to apply it automatically. If the connector can’t find a recent 2FA email, it will keep retrying for a short period and then fail.
Check the following:
- Steam Guard is enabled and set to email codes for the Steam account you’re using.
- Steam is sending the code to the expected mailbox. The connector reads Steam 2FA emails from the Singular-managed inbox:
steam@dp.singular.net. - The Steam account’s email address is correct and receiving mail. If the Steam account is configured to send codes to a different address, the connector won’t see them.
- Wait a few minutes and retry. Steam emails can be delayed; a retry often succeeds once the email arrives.
If the issue persists, confirm that Steam is still sending “Login Code” emails (not requiring app-based Steam Guard Mobile confirmations) and contact Singular Support with the connector run logs and the Steam account name used for the connection.
